Wonder Camp is named after Gilmont’s value of Wonder-Filled Play – an inter-generational medley of engaging activities, curious conversations, rewarding experiences, moving music, creative worship, genuine fellowship, and joy-filled service. At Gilmont Summer Camp, camper days are full of opportunities to play, sing, dance, create, discuss, and bond with peers.
Campers stay in Gilmont’s air-conditioned cabins with other campers in their age group and under the supervision of their Counselors. Each cabin has two sides with four bunk beds, one counselor bed, and a private bathroom. Cabins also have a middle room where campers often play games, make cabin-friendly crafts, and talk with new and old friends.
Gilmont’s activities and small group structure allow campers to grow in character and community while having fun in the piney woods of East Texas. Activities include archery, canoeing, group games, sling shots, disc golf, nature hikes, crafts, Bible Study, and more. Campers will not only talk about the fun they had in the great outdoors; but they will also talk about their accomplishments, new friendships, and a closer relationship with God!
Campers are organized into small groups of 12-14 campers around their age. At least two carefully selected and highly trained counselors supervise each group. Camp staff undergo a rigorous screening and complete a minimum of 12 days of orientation and training. Counselors are attentive, caring, and creative young adults who are passionate about spending time with children and affirming their uniqueness as Children of God. They help make the camp experience fun and enriching for all campers!
Campers arrive for Wonder Camp on Sundays between 3:00-5:00 PM. The closing ceremony is at 3:00 PM on Fridays with pick-up beginning 30 minutes prior. Guardians and loved ones are encouraged to attend the closing ceremony.
Gilmont believes that every child deserves the experience and benefits of summer camp. We recognize that families have different abilities and resources to pay for a week of summer camp, which is why we are offering flexible pricing. Option A reflects the true cost of camp, Option C is the historically subsidized rate of camp, and Option B is the midpoint between the two. Click here to learn more about flexible pricing.
No matter which option you choose, the amenities, activities, and camp experience are the same.

Campers stay in Gilmont’s Tree Houses with other campers in their age group and under the supervision of their Counselors. Tree Houses are not airconditioned and rely on screened windows for breezy airflow. Campers use a bathhouse with private showers and amenities for self-care. Their gathering space is around the campfire or on the picnic tables between the two Tree Houses.
Adventure campers are allowed to bring a hammock or small tent for lodging, if preferred, instead of the Tree Houses. In the event of severe weather, campers move into Gilmont’s cabins.
Gilmont’s activities and small group structure allow campers to grow in character and community while having fun in the piney woods of East Texas. Adventure Campers participate in traditional camp activities (archery, canoeing, group games, sling shots, disc golf, nature hikes, crafts, Bible Study, and more) and older camper activities (zipline, axe throwing, ninja stars, and crate stacking). They also enjoy special Adventure Camp activities – such as cooking 2 meals a day over a campfire, shelter and raft building, and other outdoor challenges.

Transform Camp is named after Gilmont’s value of Transforming Whole Lives – we extend space for individuals and groups to grow in mind, body, and spirit at camp and beyond the gates. We know lives are changed for the better at Summer Camp. The skills developed, lessons learned, and friendships formed at camp extend after the camp session and are formative to the holistic lives of campers.

Your family can choose the payment option that suits your needs best. We do not require any type of documentation or reasoning for your decision.
All campers receive the same Gilmont experience, no matter which amount you choose to pay.
Option A ($800 Overnight Camp | $350 Day Camp) – most closely reflects what it actually costs Gilmont to provide a camp experience for one camper, including things like food service, maintaining the buildings and grounds, staffing, utilities, supplies, and equipment.
Option B ($650 Overnight Camp | $275 Day Camp) – is a partially subsidized rate that is the midpoint between the true cost of camp and the subsidized rate for a week of camp.
Option C ($500 Overnight Camp | $200 Day Camp) – is a subsidized rate for a week of camp.
These lower rates are made possible by donations from individuals, churches, and foundations that value the impact the summer camp experience at Gilmont has on children, youth, individuals, and families.
The $100 registration deposit must be paid to secure your camper’s spot in the camp you have chosen. Please pay camp fees in full 2 weeks before your session.
The Prairie Valley Legacy Scholarship was established after one of Gilmont’s sister camps in Grace Presbytery closed. Campers who attend PCUSA churches and worshipping communities in Grace Presbytery are eligible for Prairie Valley Legacy Scholarships.
New in 2025, Prairie Valley Legacy Scholarships are administered to campers by Gilmont. To apply, please submit a Gilmont Scholarship Application (details below) and indicate that your family attends a PCUSA church or worshipping community in Grace Presbytery.
Each year Gilmont leadership works to raise funds to help children come to camp and distributes these on an as needed basis until funds are exhausted. Families are always asked to pay the deposit for the session before requesting scholarship funds.
