A job at summer camp is unlike anything else you will ever experience. You’ll grow in friendship and in faith. You’ll make a positive impact on the lives of campers while also developing as an individual, a leader, a team player, a steward of creation, and a follower of God.

While there are rhythms and routines in camp life, each day presents unique situations and new challenges. You’ll work alongside a supportive and dynamic team to problem solve, process, and adapt. The skills you develop and experience you gain transfer to many different career paths – from social work to engineering to accounting to teaching!

Dates & Details

Our employment dates for Summer 2024 are May 25th-July 20th. Meals, housing, and a weekly salary are provided for the duration of your employment. All staff will have a week off either June 9th-14th OR June 16th-21st. If you have additional conflicts during the employment period, let us know in your application or interview. We understand mission trips, family vacations, and self-care needs are important and will do our best to work with you and accommodate for your additional commitments.

How to Apply

Our hiring process includes an application, an interview, and reference and background checks. Prior to starting the job, you are required to attend a 12-day paid training where we teach you how to facilitate Gilmont activities, lead Bible Studies following our curriculum, give and receive constructive feedback, manage behavior in developmentally appropriate ways, and more. All staff will be CPR/AED/First Aid certified during this period and also have the option to become Lifeguard certified.

Available Positions

Overnight Camp Counselors (18 years of age or older) are mentors, leaders, and friends to overnight campers (grades 1st-11th).

They work alongside a co-counselor to provide fun and formative experiences for campers in their small group – about 14 campers. Counselors lead Bible studies, facilitate Gilmont activities, and ensure the safety and well being of campers during their stay. They have the option of planning, implementing, and leading specialty camps (Adventure Camp, Camp Create, Forces of Nature, Choose Your Adventure, or Olympics) for older campers.

​Starting salary is $300 per week.

Day Camp Counselors (16 years of age or older) are mentors, leaders, and friends to day campers (grades 1st-6th).

Like Overnight Camp Counselors, they work alongside a co-counselor to provide fun and formative experiences for day campers in their small group (about 12 campers) M-F, 9am-4pm. During this time they lead Bible studies, facilitate Gilmont activities, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers during their stay. Day Camp Counselors join overnight groups for evening activities and Vespers and stay in cabins with campers.

​Starting salary is $250 per week for 16-17 year olds and $300 per week for 18+.

Support Staff (16 years of age or older) are essential to our summer camp programs!

They often work behind the scenes to help ensure camp programs are running smoothly. Common tasks include organizing camper shirts, assisting with snacks and camp swag, putting out water jugs, and setting up activities. They also step in for counselors to lead a variety of activities. If you are someone who thrives wearing many hats and want to contribute to Gilmont’s life-changing ministry, then a summer job a Support Staff may be the right role for you!

​Starting salary is $250 per week.

Media Staff (16 years of age or older) capture the joy and fun of summer camp!

They take photos and videos of campers and staff enjoying the camp day. They also create engaging social media posts, photo albums to share with camper families, and an end of week slideshow/video so others can witness the impact of Gilmont’s Summer Camp programs.

Starting salary is $250 per week.

Lifeguards (16 years of age or older) enforce safety policies at Gilmont’s pool and lake, assist with upholding cleanliness standards at the pool, and perform aquatic rescues as needed. If you are not already certified, no worries!

If you are not already certified, no worries! Gilmont will provide a Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid course during staff training.
Any summer staff member can be a Lifeguard at camp! When you apply for another position, simply select that you are interested in also working as a Lifeguard this summer.

Lifeguards receive a $75 weekly bonus on top of their starting salary.
