"The quieter you are...The more you hear."
Silent Retreat - February 19 - February 22, 2023
Read below for information about this upcoming retreat.
A friend of Gilmont, Jonathan Bailey, shared this blog post concerning the need for silence:
We live in a world addicted to noise. We use noise as a way to distract us from what really matters. We only have to practice silence once to recognize the depth and distraction of our soul. In their zeal for spiritual guidance, monastic Christians would flood Abba Moses, a wise monk, with many questions. This was often his reply, "Sit in your cell (their sparse living quarters) and your cell will teach you everything." Sitting in silence is the master teacher. It's one of the beautiful ways we open ourselves to grace...

The retreat begins Sunday, February 19 with check in starting at 4 pm.
We will gather for dinner at 6 pm followed by a conversation around the rhythm of the retreat and our time together practicing silence in community. Participants will be invited to consider signing up for sessions with a spiritual director during this time as well. Following that conversation, we will enter into silence together.
This retreat provides space for quiet and reflection, with long stretches of silence and space for creatively encountering God. There will be no specific teaching, but there will be windows of invitation for people to experiment with new spiritual practices, and share some optional follow-up conversation.
The retreat ends Ash Wednesday, February 22. We will gather for the worship following breakfast and then we will break silence during communion.
Lodge Rooms (Price includes lodging, linens, meals and program)
Single Occupancy $275 per person
Double Occupancy $225 per person (If you are choosing Double Occupancy this means you are coordinating with your own roommate. Gilmont will not be assigning random roommates.)
Cabin Community Space (Price includes lodging, linens, meals and program)
$200 per person (Up to 6 guests share sleeping space and a rest room. Depending on retreat attendance, cabin guests will be more spread out.)
Full payment is due two weeks prior to the retreat start date.
