"The quieter you are...The more you hear."
Silent Retreat - February 11-14, 2024
Considering signing up for a Silent Retreat but not sure if it is right for you?
A friend of Gilmont, Jonathan Bailey, shared this blog post concerning the need for silence:
"We live in a world addicted to noise. We use noise as a way to distract us from what really matters. We only have to practice silence once to recognize the depth and distraction of our soul. In their zeal for spiritual guidance, monastic Christians would flood Abba Moses, a wise monk, with many questions. This was often his reply, "Sit in your cell (their sparse living quarters) and your cell will teach you everything." Sitting in silence is the master teacher. It's one of the beautiful ways we open ourselves to grace... "

You are invited to join us for silence, in community, at Gilmont. This retreat is uniquely seated within the liturgical year to usher in the season of Lent through the spiritual practice of silence.
What to expect.
The retreat begins with a brief time of verbal sharing and setting intention for the retreat. Throughout the retreat, participants experience space for quiet and reflection along with space for creatively encountering God through optional, self guided prayer stations. Silence is broken for scheduled scripture readings, and participants are given the option of meeting with a spiritual director for 30 minutes daily, if they would like to verbally process anything that is stirring that needs to be spoken to a trusted listener.

The retreat begins Sunday, February 11 with check in starting at 4 pm.
We will gather for dinner at 6 pm followed by a conversation around the rhythm of the retreat and our time together practicing silence in community. Participants will be invited to consider signing up for sessions with a spiritual director during this time as well. Following that conversation, we will enter into silence together.
The retreat ends Ash Wednesday, February 14. We will gather for the worship following breakfast and then we will break silence during communion.
Lodge Rooms (Price includes lodging, linens, meals and program)
Single Occupancy $375 per person
Double Occupancy $275 per person (If you are choosing Double Occupancy this means you are coordinating with your own roommate. Gilmont will not assign random roommates.)

$200 per person (Up to 6 guests share sleeping space and a rest room. Depending on retreat attendance, cabin guests will be more spread out.)
Full payment is due two weeks prior to the retreat start date.
