What to expect when I send my child to camp this Summer?

In light of Governor Abbott’s Executive Order for our state, effective July 3, we have made some adjustments to our week at camp.  We will be wearing masks inside buildings (excluding cabins) and when our Camp Family Groups are mixed together. We will have the campers organized in Boy/Girl Family Groups by cabin - so the boys and girls in Pecan Cabin, for example, will be a Camp Family Group for the week - a pattern of organizing our campers that limits exposure. All campers and staff will be in community at camp, so we will wear masks regardless of age. If your child has a mask to bring they are welcome to bring it. If not, we will provide one - it is bandana (buff) style - convenient because it stays around the neck, and can be easily pulled up as needed.  Please have conversations about this with your child in advance so they are prepared - and remember to be upbeat and positive - we are all in this together doing our part to help stop the spread.

Online Registration
  • Due to COVID-19 there will be additional forms for you to sign regarding symptoms and exposure as well as an additional liability and release form.   If you have already registered for camp, you will receive an email when these are posted and ready for your consideration and signature.

Before Camp
  • You will receive a supply list that will help guide your packing process.
  • You will be contacted prior to arrival concerning the possibility of new or worsening signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Consider your activities the 14 days leading up to camp, limiting exposure to others as much as possible.

Drop Off at Camp
  • Check-in will be done from your car.
  • Campers will be asked the health screening questions and given a temperature check.
  • Drop off will happen in front of the cabin. Parents will not be allowed inside the cabins and will say goodbye to their camper from the porch. Parents are welcome to take video or pictures outside of the cabin. Camp Staff will help campers bring their belongings into the cabin and help them make their beds and get settled.
  • Please leave all mail or packages at camper drop off. You will also have the option to send daily emails to your camper.

Pick Up from Camp
  • Campers will be picked up at the Pavilion area.
  • There will be no closing ceremony. The closing ceremony will be pre-recorded and shared for families to watch together at home. All families will have access to a picture slideshow for the week at no extra cost.

Daily Safety Precautions
  • Campers will be closely monitored for signs or symptoms of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.
  • Campers will be required to wash hands before and after every meal, after using the restroom, and after certain activities. Hand sanitizer will be available to use as program and camper activity requires.
  • Campers will be encouraged to use proper sneezing and coughing etiquette.
  • In the cabins, campers will sleep head to toe to maximize distance between their heads.
  • Staff will wear masks during food service and at other predetermined times. Campers will be allowed to wear masks, but it will not be enforced.

Daily Cleaning Precautions
  • Cabins - Every day our staff will sanitize all major points of contact including, but not limited to, door handles, light switches and bunk bed rails. Bathrooms will be sanitized in the morning (during cabin clean up), afternoon (after FOB) and evening (before bed).
  • Dining Hall -  Communal bathrooms will be sanitized after each meal, and in between meal times if used heavily. Light switches and door handles will be sanitized before groups arrive and after each group leaves.
  • Crain Center - Communal bathrooms will be sanitized each time after the group leaves. Light switches and door handles will be sanitized before groups arrive and after each group leaves.
  • Supplies and Equipment - Items used in community will be sanitized at the end of activities.

Meal Times
  • Food service employees will wear masks and gloves.
  • All self serve stations (salad bar, drinks, etc) will be staffed by a camp employee wearing gloves and a mask.
  • Tables and chairs will be sanitized after each group leaves the dining hall.
  • Depending on the group size, meal times may be staggered to minimize the amount of people in the Dining Hall.

Activity Times
  • Campers will be encouraged to social distance as much as possible during activities.
  • All campers will be asked to bring two (2) beach towels to camp. One will be used for water activities. The other will be used to sit on during times like Bible Study or Arts and Crafts to give each camper a way to distance themselves from others.
  • We will hold as many activities outside as possible. We will use the Pavilion area, porches and large shaded areas for activities.
