Open Air Tabernacle
Creating spaces for gathering and worship outdoors is an important part of Gilmont’s ministry. The Open Air Tabernacle houses a prayer labyrinth, seating space for about 100, and an elevated stage. Located near the front entrance of the camp, it is a highly functional space that is easy to access. In 2017, the space is being renovated with grant funds from the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Foundation and a family gift in memory of Rev. Van Hilliard. Special thanks to many volunteers who helped make the improvements thus far: the men of First Presbyterian Church of Garland for installing new wiring, the facilities committee for new fans, light fixtures and new benches; and, Jane Els and the 2015 Summer Interns for the labyrinth.
